Poem – You in Me

And you, you taught me
Of freedom and self-reliance
To take care of younger ones
And to look into the time

And you, you taught me
To expect more of myself
And not to be too clever
To ask questions

And you two also taught me
To let go of some relationships

And you, you taught me
The taste of honey
And how I can travel back
And to trust my skill

And you, you taught me
Ancestors promote me in the pyramid
Even in their last hour
When you took your last look at me

And you two also taught me
What real love was

And you, you taught me
To build parks and plant trees
To thin the harsh concrete
And how to get inspired

And you, you taught me
To paint oil colours on wood
And how butterflies hatch
While you tended to your garden

And you two also taught me
Death belongs with life

Thank you
For everything in me
That I get from you

Share your love
